Firm History - Since 1939
The firm of Posner and Posner was founded in 1939 by the husband and wife team of Samuel Posner and Elizabeth F. Posner. Sam Posner (Wayne Law School, 1939) was a legendary trial lawyer in the Detroit, Michigan area, still trying cases at age 90 until his final illness in 2006. Elizabeth F. Posner (Wayne Law School, 1938) was a pioneer, becoming a lawyer at a time when law firms thought that women should be secretaries, not lawyers, and actively practiced law until her final illness in 1995. In 1974, their son, Gerald F. Posner (Yale Law School, 1974) joined the firm and it was renamed Posner, Posner and Posner.
